DAY 1– Tuesday, August 14th:  The “I” ~ Self as Instrument

7-8am MORNING PRACTICE:  “Coming Home” ~ John Gruber

This first morning practice will focus on present moment awareness expressed in language. Meeting each other in the space of our newly gathered community, we will dip into a written and spoken expression of the moment to which we have arrived and what we find there. With a gentle introduction to collective verse, we will begin to weave our voices together as we explore the opening of the first day.

7:30-8:30am  BREAKFAST

9am-Noon  CONTEXT

9am -11am Our Cosmic Inheritance And The Evolutionary Significance of this Moment in Time ~ John Gruber

We are the grace-given beneficiaries of an astonishing series of evolutionary developments that have taken place across an unimaginably vast territory of time and space. Our appreciation for the moment we have before us is deepened by a shared reflection on the journey that has brought us to this particular moment. At the same time, we are on the edge of a frontier quite unlike any other that has existed before, and the present calls us to recognize both where we have come from and where we might go. With a cosmic evolutionary perspective, we will sink into the full depth of our journey, touching into the mystery of our existence and pointing to the realms that lie ahead.

11am-Noon PANEL Conversation with John, Stephan & Geoff

Noon-2:00pm LUNCH (offering an introduction to Integral Theory for those new to or curious about this perspective over lunch, location TBA)

2-3:30pm – Integral Evolutionary Practice ~ Terry Patten

In this session, Terry Patten – who co-developed Integral Life Practice with Ken Wilber and the original core team at Integral Institute – will shine light on how Integral Practice is the personal “how” of evolving a higher “We”. ILP integrates ancient spiritual wisdom with modern scientific clarity, informed by the insights of post-modern philosophy and psychology. The result is a whole lot more than the sum of its parts, facilitating simple presence & availability—heartfelt, clear, and intelligent (rather than a grand complicated head-trip, even though it’s grounded in profoundly rigorous intellectual clarity). To build community, we need simple, direct ways we can be present inside a container big enough to support a path of awakening, a process for interrelating, and a heart of understanding. This will lay a foundation so we can engage our week together grounded in a healthy shared intention to cooperate in connecting with self and other to make meaningful contributions to our world.

3:45-4:45pm – Bringing the Village to Life: Creative Expression, Music & Movement

We’ll be weaving three threads throughout this week, exploring and celebrating being together through creative expression and play; through music; and through movement (locations TBA).

5:00-5:45pm – Integration Groups

Integration groups provide an opportunity to meet in small groups to share, reflect and integrate the days experiences.

6:00-7:30pm – DINNER & evening break

7:30-9pm – Self as Instrument for Evolution ~ Miriam Mason Martineau

We will explore and practice individual capacities and readiness required for Community to take its Next Step. What does it take in us to become present to and contribute to the evolution of consciousness itself? As  Teilhard de Chardin points out, this cosmic enterprise now hangs on our decision, on our free will to engage and participate: we are evolution. This session offers a toolkit of sorts, with suggested practices in six areas: self-awareness, state-shifting/choice-making, self-knowledge, perspective taking, shadow work, and self-care.

DAY 2 – Wednesday, August 15th: The “YOU”

7-8am  MORNING PRACTICE: WeAmness ~ Terry Patten

Terry will guide us in a morning practice that facilitates connecting and relating to radical non-dual Spirit as “I AMness” (a first-person apprehension of Spirit) and as “Beloved” (a second-person apprehension of Spirit) such that we come together in a field of non-separation and a higher “we”can begin to emerge.

7:30-8:30am  BREAKFAST

9am-Noon  STEPPING INTO RELATIONSHIP

9am-10am Stepping into Relationship ~  Next Step & Pacific Integral

Relationship is truly where the rubber hits the road – it is here that we develop all our survival strategies, our ego defences and conditioning. We will explore how to make new tracks in the sand, discovering and practicing ways of being in relationship whereby our true self stays fully present and alive. We will include polarities work in this session as we delve into the realm of self and other.

10am-Noon Conscious Communication: The Deeper Layers of Intimacy ~  Thomas Huebl via skype

Thomas, a practitioner and teacher of collective awakening will guide us through relational practices that enable us to reach deeper layers of togetherness, opening doorways for the WE to evolve and have a voice.

Noon-2:00pm LUNCH

2-3:30pm – Coming Face to Face ~ Geoff Fitch

Depth and intimacy are foundations of conscious, evolving community. During this session we will step more fully into relationship, and through that process explore the territory of our evolutionary growth together, through the levels of depth we bring to each moment and the degree of openness and transparency we offer. We will explore how we construct ‘I’ and ‘We’ together and concretely, subtly and at the level of pure awareness and how a new experience of community can emerge as we openly share these depths with each other.

3:45-4:45pm – Bringing the Village to Life: Creative Expression, Music & Movement

We continue weaving the three threads, exploring and celebrating being together through creative expression and play, music, and movement.

5:00-5:45pm – Integration Groups

Integration groups provide an opportunity to meet in small groups to share, reflect and integrate the days experiences.

6:00-7:15pm – DINNER & evening break

7:15-9:15pm – Integral Shadow Practice – Touching down to Open up to the Light ~ Terry Patten (with Miriam Mason Martineau)

Our shadows – disowned, repressed or left behind aspects of ourselves that now reside in our unconscious – can trip us up and hold us back from bringing our full selves into relationships and community. Such shadows cause painful symptoms and tend to sabotage spiritual growth, even in the most sincere committed practitioners. Making shadow work an integral part of our practice, we gradually become more whole, more transparent and trustworthy. This session introduces shadow, and helps us each to take a personal emotional inventory. With that clarity, we can approach  our shadow work more authentically and integrally, and release blocked Life energy we never knew we had, freeing us up to be more present to each other.

DAY 3 – Thursday, August 16: The “WE”

7-8am  MORNING PRACTICE: Devotional & Community Singing ~ Miriam Mason Martineau

Breaking out in song as a collective! Through singing together we invoke the universal language of Sound, while evoking our Self as Instrument. What harmonies and resonances arise when we contribute our whole-self sound? And how can singing be utilized as a devotional practice in community? We will find out by learning a few simple meditative chants and listening for the Sound that is brought forward when we each step into our own unique instrument and sing!

7:30-8:30am  BREAKFAST

9am-Noon  GIVING THE WE A VOICE ~ Stephan Martineau

Evolving the We: The Next Stage in Human Evolution

What if our ability to come together beyond our personal self is key to our species’ continued evolution? What if our individual evolution is directly linked with the evolution of our species as a whole? And what if authentic community is required to break through to later stages of development? Together we will explore these questions.

Doing it: Collective Intelligence lab

We will practice coming together in smaller groups, joining in deep inquiry and presence, and listening to what emerges when we gather with a focus on the WE that is made up of more than the sum total of each of us making up the circle. We will experiment and practice giving voice to our collective intelligence.

From I to You to We

Through a sharing circle, meditation, and listening for what is emerging we will touch into the interweaving dynamic between I, You, and We that becomes possible when we each bring our truest self to the circle.

Noon-2:00pm LUNCH

2-3:30pm – Establishing core conditions for accessing the new We: Consciousness Practices for Deepening our Collective Intelligence Capacity ~ Olen Gunnlaugson

While a noted enthusiasm for the “we-space” within the integral community has developed in recent years, there is currently a need for approaches and methods that bring about the conditions for collective intelligence processes and outcomes. This presentation introduces two practices for evolutionary groups to more effectively bring about collective-intelligence conditions in their conversations. Olen’s talk will explore his background thinking, work and emerging research in these areas.

3:45-4:45pm – Bringing the Village to Life: Creative Expression, Music & Movement

We continue weaving the three threads, exploring and celebrating being together through creative expression and play, music, and movement.

5:00-5:45pm – Integration Groups

6:00-7:30pm – DINNER & evening break

Free evening for a hike, hangin’ out, chillin’ by the poolside J

DAY 4 – Friday, August 17: The “IT”

7-8am  MORNING PRACTICE: Embodiment—Sensing into Motion ~ Thomas Arthur

We will be working with gentle movements, sensing into our relationship with the multiplicity of embodied patterns shaping our self-image in relationship with others and our environment. This will include elements of friendly contact with one another. Our time will include an easy movement sequence from the Feldenkrais method and move forward from there. Simple, direct, open-hearted motion to start our day.

7:30-8:30am  BREAKFAST

9am-Noon  BRINGING VISION INTO ACTION

9-10:30am – The Emerging of Sacred Community: Living the Questions Together ~ Terry Patten

It is said that we live in “an interesting time”. All of us alive in this moment in history have been given a profound, nearly unanswerable question by Life: How can we serve and contribute to a healthy existence for everyone, to a “healthy creative response” to a critical moment in evolution? What is our calling, our own unique offering as evolutionary activists, and our means for cooperating together as never before? At this point in the week, our most profound questions will have been asked, and it will be time to explore how we can participate fully in our shared evolution, “live the questions” and be transformed by them together, as they move us to action.

We will also experientially explore ways of extending what we have created together out into the wider communities we are a part of.

8:00-8:45am  BREAKFAST

9am-Noon  BRINGING VISION INTO ACTION

9-10:30am – Waking Up and Growing Up in Community: Experiences in an eight-year experiment in integral development ~ Terri O’Fallon & Geoff Fitch

Communities evolve as individuals evolve; they also wake up and grow up. There are times when we perceive that we have been born out of the energy of a community, and other times when we flip that experience and sense that we are creating community from our own efforts. The intersection of individual and community has been a paradoxical journey that Pacific Integral has played with for the past 10 years, watching communities evolve and devolve, individuals grow up and wake up, individual and community affecting each other, and through these years of experience we have developed a sense of what happens in long term evolving communities.

10:30-Noon BREAKOUT SESSIONS

  • Elevating the Collective across multiple value systems and perspectives ~ Stephan Martineau
  • Integral Community across the Spiral ~ Gary Stamper
  • Bridging to Integral Community: Ecovillages & Beyond ~ Karen Litfin

Now we ground the inspiration, the learning and growth this week has brought, and bring our ideas and new insights into action. Our Next Step Integral team will guide and accompany you in coming up with clear intentions and action steps on how you choose to move forward, either within the existing collective(s) you are already a part of, initiating new forms of community, or expanding and deepening your community networks. This is a hands-on session, fun and engaged, and key to not leaving this experience in the realm of a state, rather bringing it to earth, to stick and stage !
